Our Finals week-end kicked off today with Kelly Silcox and George Taylor playing Peter Dunstan and Jack Neville in the Open 4-Wood Pairs Final. In a tight game Kelly and George looked to be in trouble with two ends to go but picked up four shots to draw level on the 17th end and took the last to win 17:15.
Jim Evans and Bob Withecombe won the Final of the Mens Drawn Pairs, beating Clive Graves and Mike Down 19:17 in another close contest.
In the afternoon Leanne Evans initially raced away from Tina Miller in the Ladies Singles Final but Tina fought back well, eventually only losing 23:17.
George Taylor was in action again in the mens singles, beating Don Harris 21:12 and Peter Dunstan and Jack Neville made a second appearance, this time in the 2-Wood Pairs against Ken Pike and Ray Teape. Jack looked to have taken the match to an extra end, striking the jack into the ditch on the last end to hold two shots. However with less than a metre to play with, Ken Pike delivered a perfect pressure bowl taking shot and the match 15:12.
With Bacon butties, tea and coffee on tap, a large collection of spectators enjoyed the day. Master of Ceremonies, Richard Dewberry thanked everyone for attending and made special mention of Competitions Secretary Richard Hines for a well organised set of Competitions. He also praised the Kitchen and Bar staff for making sure everyone was well fed and 'watered' and President Graham Stroudley for making the presentations.
